Getting Started

the Other 23

The Other 23 is a month long lifestyle design program designed to provide the education and support necessary to help inspired people institute positive, lasting, health promoting changes in their lives. The name refers to the 23 hours of the day that you are not in the gym. It is no exageration to say that these hours can either support the hard work you do at TPG or completely sabotage it.

Non TPG members are more than welcome to participate! Invite your family, friends, arch enemies, co-workers, etc. to join you!

What Will I Receive?

During the course of The Other 23 program, you will receive:

  • A basic education in the ancestral approach to nutrition and lifestyle design and why I have recommended it for over eight years.
  • A shopping list to get you started on your new way of eating.
  • A sample week of eating.
  • Access to a private Facebook group to share ideas, recipes, vent frustrations and ask questions.
  • Weekly instruction in the development of natural health practices that enhance your quality of life. We talk about everything from sleep to movement and breathing!
  • Bodyweight, measurements and photos taken before the program and at the conclusion (if desired).
  • A mid-way meeting on Saturday, July 29 to provide guidance and support.
  • Guidance on how to live a sustainable, healthy lifestyle after the O23.
  • A program conclusion meeting to take final photos, measurements and celebrate your success.
  • Is This For Me?

    If you are interested in doing all that is within your control to maximize your health and body composition, than yes, it is. You must, however, be willing to give up the following for a month:

  • ALL grains, legumes and dairy products (except butter).
  • ALL sugar and sugar substitutes.
  • ALL alcohol and tobacco products.
  • ALL MSG, and sulfites.
  • ALL soft drinks and fruit juice.
  • ALL candy cigarettes (i.e. paleo muffins, paleo pancakes, paleo pizza-filled-7 layer-chocolate cake).
  • Almost all processed food (exceptions will be addressed at the kickoff meeting).
  • Hint: At the conclusion of the O23, you won't want to begin eating the above food items after you realize how good you feel and look without them!

    In addition, you must be willing to do the following:

  • Turn off all electronic devices 30 minutes before you go to bed (i.e. TV, phone, tablet, etc.).
  • Get at least 15 minutes of direct sun exposure each day.
  • Sleep in a cool, dark room for as many hours as possible every night.
  • Eat meat, vegetables, fruit, nuts, eggs and some tubers. More details will be given at the kickoff meeting.
  • Have a period of personal quiet time each day.
  • Is There a Cost?

    Yes, the whole program costs $30 per person for members of TPG and $50 per person for non-members. You may pay by clicking the link below and then going to the online store and the 'products' tab at the top of your screen. You can register all the way up to the kickoff meeting on Saturday, July 15.

    * Go to the 'products' tab at the store page and select the O23 version (member or non-member) that is appropriate. Do not use the 'contract' drop down menu. The contract version is for the year-long program.

    What are the Dates and Times of the Meetings?

  • Kickoff Meeting (mandatory) - Saturday, July 15 at 11:30 am
  • Halftime Meeting - Saturday, July 29 at 11:30 am
  • Final Meeting - Saturday, August 12 at 11:30 am
  • Is There Anything Else I Need to Know?

    You may take initial weight, measurements and photos at the kickoff meeting if you choose. Please bring the attire you wish to wear for the photos as well as the device/camera you want us to use to take the photos. No photos will be published anywhere or used for promotional purposes without your written permission. Remember, this initial data is not a requirement to participate in the program.
